New York Pharmacist License

Pharmacist in New York

A license is necessary to practice pharmacy in the state of New York.

Requirements include:

  • Must pass the NAPLEX
  • Must pass the MPJE
  • 1040 internship hours if ACPE or CCAPP accredited program graduate, 2080 internship hours if non-accredited program graduate, exempt if Pharm D
  • Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
  • No criminal record
  • Good moral character

Application also requires:

  • $339 fee
  • Compounding Written and Practical Exam

Foreign graduates and non-US citizen have additional requirements:

  • Must pass FPGEE
  • Must pass TOEFL

New York also allows licensure by reciprocity.

To maintain a pharmacist license in New York, pharmacists need 45 CE (continuing education) credits every 3 years.  Three credits must be on drug errors and prevention.  Twenty three credits must be live.
